Indian Art Exhibition in the International Roerich Memorial Trust

On August 21-23 in the IRMT Exhibition Hall there was an Art exhibition of the group of Indian artists headed by Sikander Jangra from Delhi. Regional Transport Officer from Kullu Mrs Phoola Kumari, Indian IRMT Curator Mr Suresh Kumar Nadda, Russian Curator’s assistant Mr Dmitry M. Surgin, guests and visitors of the Roerichs’ Estate, the team of the Roerich Trust took part in the ceremonial opening of the Exhibition.

Expressive portraits, beautiful landscapes, everyday scenes and symbolic subjects, Madhubani old art paintings taking their beginning from the Bihar wall-paintings interested and made the viewers admired.

More than eighty paintings by the nineteen artists from the states of Haryana, Orissa, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, as well as from Delhi and Calcutta were presented in the exposition. The participants of the exhibition were  Adhyayan Chehan, Sachin Kumar, Manimah Sonal B Saxena, Sumeli Das, Dr. Bharti Sharma, Arka Ghosh, Pavitra Mana, Dr. Aditi Gupta, Barkha Tyagi, Niladari Jatha Das, Priyanka Singh, Ved Prakash, Diren Sharik Sasmal, Raju Sorat, Sahil Singhmar, Gautam Liar Das, Lalit Mohan Gautam, Lokendra, Sikander Jangra.

Unfortunately not all the authors had an opportunity to be present at the exhibition personally, but the paintings they presented gave the opportunity to the visitors of the Roerichs’ estate to get an idea of the most interesting trends of Indian modern and traditional art.
