Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children of the International Roerich Memorial Trust admits children aged 6 to 17. It offers classes in painting, vocal, Indian classical and contemporary dance, and traditional Indian music. Students also learn Russian songs and dances, stage musical plays, and participate in cultural programmes organized in the Roerich Estate on the occasion of anniversaries and culture festivals. Academy students participate in the annual international children’s painting competitions. They also take part in the local painting competitions organized by the IRMT, for which students and teachers from the schools of Naggar, Katrain, Rumsu and other villages are also invited. “Peace through Culture”, “The Image of Hero in the Art of Nicholas Roerich”, “Let us Preserve the Sublime Heritage of the Past for the Glorious Future!” – these and other themes can be seen in children’s drawings and paintings, many of which are true pieces of art.

27.03.2016  Celebrations in the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts

Third academic year has ended in the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts in the Himalayan Roerich Estate. To mark the event, a ceremony was organized on March 27, 2016 in the International Roerich Memorial Trust. The local children studying in the Academy and their parents took part in the celebrations.

The Academy organizes master classes by artists and musicians from India and Russia, as well as lectures and video presentations for children and their parents on the life and work of the Roerichs, and the great achievements of world culture. 

 

The classes take place in one of the buildings of the IRMT Cultural-Educational Centre. The young residents of Naggar and neighbouring villages have a wonderful opportunity to study art in comfortable, spacious and light halls. Reading Room and Computer Room are also at the service of children and their parents.    

 

With love, care and enthusiasm the young teachers of the Academy take their students into the world of culture and creativity. Music, dance and painting classes are a wonderful opportunity to develop children’s creative abilities, to nourish their sense of beauty and harmony, and to introduce them to the great world cultural traditions. 

 

At present the classes are held only on Sundays, but the day will come and the Academy of Arts of the International Roerich Memorial Trust will become the true center of Beauty and culture.

1.04.2014  New Semester in the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts started in April 2014

In April 2014 the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children started a new semester in the recently repaired two-storied building acquired by the Trust about 10 years ago and which remained unused for a long time. The young residents of Naggar and surrounding villages have got a wonderful opportunity to study art in the comfortable, spacious and light halls.

On May 29, 2016 the Ukrainian artist Halyna Chaudhary whose exhibition titled “Inspiration” had earlier opened in the IRMT Exhibition Hall, conducted a master class in the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children, IRMT, Naggar.

On the day of the grand opening of her solo exhibition in the Roerich Estate in Naggar Prof. Sadhna Sangar conducted a drawing master class for the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children managed by the International Roerich Memorial Trust, Naggar.

On June 12, 2016 during his solo show of paintings at the International Roerich Memorial Trust, Naggar (IRMT), Dr. Chaman Sharma, Assistant Professor in Painting, Government Post Graduate College, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, conducted a master class for the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children, IRMT, Naggar.
