"Nicholas Roerich. Life and Creative Work"

The first grand opening of the exhibition “Nicholas Roerich. Life and Creative Work” took place on October 9, 2014 during the celebrations of the 140th anniversary of Nicholas Roerich. The exhibition was prepared by the International Centre of the Roerichs and brought from Moscow specially for the International Roerich Memorial Trust to mark the anniversary of the great artist. It remained open to visitors in the Modern Art Exhibition Hall, IRMT for three weeks.  

In the end of July and beginning of August, 2015 the exhibition was hosted by the Bhuri Singh Museum, Chamba in the capital of the eponymous district in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The grand opening of the exhibition timed to the beginning of the famous annual festival of Chamba, Minjar Mela took place on August 2. During the seven days of the festival scores of local residents and visitors of Chamba saw the exhibition.

Finally, on August 16, 2015 the exhibition on Nicholas Roerich opened on the ground floor of the Administrative Block of the “Urusvati” Institute. The event took place on the day of the 113th anniversary of his elder son, George Roerich. Among the honorable guests were the Buddhist scholar Tsering Dorje and lamas from the Pangang monastery.   

The exhibition displaying archival photographs, information banners and prints of the Master’s works tells about the main milestones of Nicholas Roerich’s life and creative work. His art and historic actions including his unparalleled Central Asian expedition that yielded most valuable results, the foundation of the “Urusvati” Institute, this prototype of the future synthesis of knowledge, the universally important Pact on the protection of cultural properties have been playing a significant role in the evolutionary journey of mankind.
