Dr. Chaman Sharma’s Master Class

On June 12, 2016 during his solo show of paintings at the International Roerich Memorial Trust, Naggar (IRMT), Dr. Chaman Sharma, Assistant Professor in Painting, Government Post Graduate College, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, conducted a master class for the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children, IRMT, Naggar.

Dr. Chaman Sharma introduced the students to the “basic grammar” of portraiture demonstrating how to draw eye with all its elements, nose and mouth. Having then combined all the elements, he produced a portrait. He then showed the students how to draw face in profile, sideways and from the front.  

Having followed Dr. Sharma’s instructions they produced a number of portraits. The master class proved a valuable source of information particularly for the most senior students of the Academy.
