Closing day celebrations of the H.Roerich Academy of Arts for children

The Helena Roerich Academy of Arts was buzzing with excitement as it marked the end of its annual program for children aged 6 to 14. The day was a great mix of music, dance and painting, showing off the amazing talents of the young participants.

It was followed by Bollywood dance competition. The atmosphere was electric as 21 children took to the stage for a spectacular performances. The show was prepared and curated by Mamta Thakur, dance teacher of the Academy. From catchy tunes to heartfelt songs, the performers gave it their all, showing not just their dance moves but also their passion and confidence. The kids were dressed in colorful costumes and performed solo.

On 1st December 2024 another important event took place at the Roerich Estate in Naggar – the last day of classes for this year session at the H.Roerich Academy of Arts for children. The closing day celebrations were a huge success, with the Curators of the IRMT themselves in attendance: Madam Larisa Surgina (Russian Curator) and Sir Suresh Kumar (Indian Curator) were the chief guests. It was great to have them there, as it gave the young artists and performers a chance to get some recognition and encouragement in the field of art and culture.

After the performances, the academy gave out certificates to the children for finishing the session and for taking part in the 150th Birth Anniversary of Maharishi Nicholas Roerich special events in October. The certificates were presented to the children by the Curators and the teachers of the Academy. The best students of the year and the best dancers have also got some special prizes. The certificates were as well given to the best artists, performers and parents for taking part in the event. The appreciation of their made the children feel proud and valued. 

After that the performance program on the Green Theatre stage started with a melodious prayer dedicated to goddess Sarasvati following which the kids together with Anshul Kumar, music teacher, and Anup Kumar, Tabla teacher,  treated everyone to a music performance where they played various instruments like guitar, harmonium and tabla.

The event kicked off with the opening of a painting exhibition prepared by the Academy’s art teacher Sapna Thakur and featuring the best artworks created by the children over the course of the year. These paintings are more than just art – they're windows into how these young minds see the world.

Parents who were present at the venue have shared their thoughts with the teachers of the Academy. One parent said, "This academy has given kids the confidence to shine." Another commented, "The combination of music and dance here helps our kids stay connected to culture while encouraging them to try new things."

As the event drew to a close, it was evident that the Helena Roerich Academy with the hands of its teachers, Curators of the MMTR and, of course, children themselves, had crafted a truly unforgettable day for all involved. The Academy has some great plans for future programs, and it's inspiring young artists to dream big and express themselves.

The kids were all smiles, which showed that this wasn't just a closing day – it was a celebration of creativity, joy, and the start of many artistic journeys.
