Young Artists’ Workshop in the Himalayan Roerich Estate
The Shimla-based society under the Pahari name ‘Mahsu Art’ has organized an art workshop in the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT), Naggar. The society was founded with the objective to provide platform to young and talented artists and guide them as they make their first steps in the world of art.
The workshop has brought together 19 participants from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Nepal – students and graduates of fine art under the guidance of Dr. Bhader Singh, Asst. Professor in Painting, Rajakiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla, and several other art teachers-cum-artists.
The results of the workshop will be displayed in the IRMT on June 13-19, 2017.
The workshop was jointly inaugurated by the Indian and Russian Curators of the IRMT. Two artists whose works were being exhibited at that time in the IRMT (Shiv Chander Ahuja and Vijay Murtikar) participated in the opening ceremony and encouraged the budding talents.
The title and theme of the workshop is “Oneness. For Bridging Humanity” while its motto is “A Small Step to Reach Your Heart.” The organizers of the workshop believe it will help the participating artists to express the idea of the essential unity of humanity. Since the language of colour is understood by all, art is capable of removing the artificial barriers that separate people.
