“Vertical Horizon” by Kumar Chauhan in the IRMT
From November 14-17, the International Roerich Memorial Trust hosted an exhibition of renowned artist Kumar Chauhan from Gujarat. The exhibition was sponsored by the Gujarat Lalit Kala Academy of Arts. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Russian Curator of the IRMT, Larisa Surgina, who works at the Roerich Estate on the direction of the International Center of the Roerichs (Moscow).
“My work concepts primarily concern the relationship between the aesthetic and representational functions of visual art, the environment it depicts and the ecology of this environment. Art and the environment appeal to reason and feelings. What happens when we mix them? The answer is - environmental art, our polluted air and oceans, global warming, deforestation and the consequences of mass consumption.
My body of works in this exhibition “Vertical Horizon” represents this concept along with contemporary visual aesthetic. It is also contributing to follow sustainability Goals sets by UN – United Nations for Peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet. Hoping to contribute in raising awareness through my body of art works to preserve beautiful nature and the harm we are causing to the environment.”
