The International Roerich Memorial Trust has suffered an irreparable loss. On January 26, 2017 at the age of 68 H.E. Alexander M. Kadakin, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India, the esteemed Vice President and life-long Trustee of the IRMT, passed away.

Festivities on the occasion of the 138th anniversary of Helena Roerich in the IRMT started with the guided tour organized for the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children managed by the IRMT. The children approached the House where Helena Roerich spent almost 20 years of her life, ascended the balcony of the 1st floor and peeped into her Study. 02-08.07.2017 Local Artist Exhibits in the IRMT
On July 2-8, 2017 the International Roerich Memorial Trust, Naggar, offered its exhibition space to the local, largely self-taught, differently abled artist Manoj Kumar “Sky”. Mr. Kumar, whose art tends towards surrealism, exhibited his multiple oil paintings, ball pen sketches, aluminium sheet paintings with religious themes and driftwood carvings (figures of animals).
08.03.2017 International Women’s Day Celebrated in the Himalayan Roerich Estate
Festive programme was organized in the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT), Naggar, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, 8th March. It was attended by a number of local women and visitors from Russia, IRMT staff, and the teachers and students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Art for Children (HRAA) managed by the IRMT.
11.03.2017 Students’ Works on Display in the IRMT
On March 11, 2017 the IRMT inaugurated the exhibition of the works by 18 students of the Department of Visual Arts, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The students included residents of different parts of Himachal and other states of India and one foreign national studying art on the Master’s level.
16.04.2017 Festivities dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the Roerich Pact in the IRMT
On Sunday, April 16, festivities dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the Roerich Pact – the first international treaty for the protection of world cultural heritage – took place in the Himalayan Roerich Estate in Naggar. The main participants of the celebrations were students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children managed by the International Roerich Memorial Trust, and the artists whose exhibition opened on that gala day in the IRMT Exhibition Hall.

Saturday, April 29, 2017, was noteworthy in the Himalayan Roerich Estate for the opening of the festival “India-Russia-the Roerichs” dedicated to two memorable dates:the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Indian-Russian diplomatic relations and the 25th anniversary of the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT).

It was with the traditional Shanti Puja that the second day of the “India-Russia-the Roerichs” festival opened in the sacrosanct Roerich Estate in Naggar. On that day, the prayers for peace and wellbeing were offered in the memory of the outstanding diplomat, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India H.E. Alexander M. Kadakin who suddenly passed away this January. Mr. Kadakin was at the root of the creation of the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT), Naggar, and remained its life-long trustee and continuous Vice President.
07.05.2017 Spring Culture Festival “India-Russia-the Roerichs” closes in Naggar
May 7, 2017 was the closing day of the Spring Culture Festival in the Himalayan Roerich Estate “India – Russia – the Roerichs”. The day was marked by a number of activities and games conducted by a group of Russian and Belorussian volunteers from the International Centre of the Roerichs, Moscow (ICR), for the students of the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children managed by the International Roerich Memorial Trust, Naggar.

On May 30, 2017, the exhibition of paintings by the Benares-based artist Mr. Vijay Murtikar opened at the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT), Naggar. The exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs. Larisa Surgina, Russian Curator, IRMT.
It is Mr. Murtikar’s second exhibition in the IRMT and the artist brought a number of new works largely in the same genres and techniques.

09.06.2017 Women Artists Exhibit in the IRMT
On June 9, 2017, four members of the group of contemporary Indian women artists “We” opened an exhibition of their paintings. The group was set up in 2003 by a Chandigarh-based artist Prof. Sadhna Sangar with a view to promoting the work of women artists and encouraging their self-expression. At present, it unites more than seventy artists from all over India and regularly conducts group shows and other promotional activities.

06.07.2017 International Roerich Memorial Trust Marks 25 years
The International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT) – the unique symbol of Russian-Indian cultural cooperation located in the hallowed Himalayan Kullu valley – has turned 25. Exactly 25 years ago, on July 6, 1992, Dr. Svetoslav Roerich signed the first Trust Deed, and this date has since then been celebrated as the birthday of the Trust – the organization meant to preserve, study and promote the heritage of the great Russian family in India.
