Birthday of Helena Roerich at the IRMT

February 12 marked the 145th Birth anniversary of the amazing Russian woman Helena Roerich - thinker, philosopher, writer and public figure.

She was the most educated woman of her time; a loving wife of the great artist Nicholas Roerich and a caring mother of two sons - Yuri (George) and Svetoslav; and at the same time she was a collaborator of Spiritual Teachers, Sages of India, in close interaction with whom she wrote down the Teachings of Living Ethics, or Agni Yoga, telling about the laws of the Cosmos and the current stage of cosmic evolution of mankind.

The staff of the International Roerich Memorial Trust, led by Indian curator Suresh Kumar and Russian curator Larisa Surgina, as well as visitors to the IRMT honored the memory of Helena Roerich by solemnly laying flower garlands on the bronze busts of Helena and Nicholas Roerich. After that, the documentary film "The Call of Cosmic Evolution" (by L.V.Shaposhnikova) was screened in the IRMT Conference Hall. The film reveals the planetary nature of the Roerich family's activities and the evolutionary meaning of their outstanding contribution to world culture. 

The philosophy of cosmic reality "Living Ethics", the Central Asian expedition, the "Urusvati" Himalayan Research Institute, the International treaty on the protection of cultural values, called the Roerich Pact - in all these major evolutionary deeds of the Roerich family Helena Roerich took the most active and direct part. "Her life was burning like a live torch," her sons wrote about her, "being an example of a wonderful world existence, the awareness of which will lead the mankind to new achievements, new discoveries."
