«Artist United - 25». Art Exhibition & Art Camp at the IRMT
An International Art Exhibition organized by the Artfort India, Chandigarh in collaboration with the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT) opened on November 14 in the IRMT Exhibition Hall. The Chief Guest at this remarkable event was Mr. Nakul Khular, Award of Excellence Vijeta, director of the renowned Baragarh Resorts & Spa, IHСL SeleQtions, Manali. The opening of the exhibition was also attended by Suresh Kumar, Indian Curator of IRMT, Larisa Surgina, Russian Curator of the IRMT (on the direction of the ICR, Moscow), artists Prabhinder Lall, Dr. Vandana Malhotra, Sangita Sharma, Bharat Bedi and many others.
In his speech, Mr. Nakul Khular thanked Artfort India, led by Prabhinder Lall, and Curators of the Roerich Trust for organizing such a large-scale International Exhibition. He also expressed his gratitude to the creative unions ASWARA (Malaysia) and Verman Cultural Celebrations (Jammu and Kashmir, India) for their support of the project. The Chief Guest of the exhibition emphasized that such events promote mutual understanding between communities from different countries through active cultural interaction.
During the Exhibition, artists who were able to come to Naggar in person organized a creative Art Camp at the Roerich Estate, inviting everyone to participate. Dr. Vandana Malhotra, coordinator of the artists' camp, gave the honor of opening the workshop to the Curators of the Roerich Trust, Larisa Surgina and Suresh Kumar. Such events are often held at the IRMT, giving visitors the opportunity to touch the mysteries of the creative process and artists to share their creative discoveries.
Sangita Sharma, the Exhibition Coordinator, noted that the Exhibition features artworks by artists from different countries, and their paintings reflect the trends and media practices that are prevalent in the contemporary art world.
In the Exhibition took part artists from India - Balwant Singh Baloria, Jang S. Verman, Mukta Gupta, Dr. Vandana Malhotra, Dr. Alisha Sharma, Bharat Bedi, Prabhinder Singh Lall, Harsh Inder Lumba, Leeza, Sangita Sharma, Mehak Sharma, Surbhi Mahajan, Shivali Jamwal, Komal Kaur, Priya; from Russia – Lyudmila Kirsanova, Elena Yakovleva, Ilmira Faridonova, Nadezhda Kobzistova; as well as Suzlee Ibrahim from Malaysia and Bandhita Worasri from Thailand.
A visit by a large group of Indian schoolchildren was a special gift for the artists. After learning about the Roerich Family Estate, they viewed with interest the exhibition of contemporary art, which in many ways follows the traditions of the great artists of the past.
One such great master of the past was Nicholas Roerich. A significant part of the new book, The Impact of Sociology of Culture on Artists and Their Contribution to Society and History, is dedicated to him. The author of the book, artist and researcher Harsh Inder Lumb, presented her book as a gift to the MMTR, and this event concluded the opening of the exhibition and artists' camp “Artist United - 25.”
