International Art Exhibition in IRMT

On May 13, 2018, a three-day-long international art show opened at the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT), Naggar. The event organized by two Indian cultural organizations committed to the promotion of contemporary art, namely Artfort India, Chandigarh, and Verman Cultural Celebration, Jammu, with which the IRMT has a long history of fruitful cooperation, presented the art works by 26 artists including representatives of various regions of India, three artists from Sweden, and one each from South Korea and Vietnam. The show was inaugurated by Mr. Ramesh Chander, Indian Curator, IRMT.

On the same day, an art camp was inaugurated at the IRMT Green Theater ground. The camp will last for three days and will offer an opportunity to the six Indian artists participating in the above mentioned exhibition to explore the world within and without, making most of the highly inspiring atmosphere of the Himalayan Roerich Estate. As usual, the art camp inauguration ceremony involved the creation of a collective painting to which every participant of the event contributed his or her bit of artistic vision.  The painting was started by the Indian Curator of the IRMT Mr. Ramesh Chander who depicted Nicholas Roerich’s Banner of Peace, the powerful symbol of creative accumulations of mankind.

The exhibition, which displays the works of the seasoned as well as the budding artists, gives a fair idea of the latest trends and innovative techniques employed in the world of contemporary art, and comprises samples of a wide range of genres.
