Group Show in the Himalayan Roerich Estate
On January 13, 2018, the International Roerich Memorial Trust, Naggar, welcomed an exhibition by the members of the recently founded national-level organization Art Motivation. The objective of the organization is to promote contemporary art by providing platform to both the budding and the established artists from all over India. The event was coordinated by the head of Art Motivation the artist from Solan Vivek Sharma.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Ujjain-based senior artist, art promoter and the Founder President of Kalavart Nyas Dr. Chandrashekhar Kale. The exhibition displayed the works of twenty five contemporary artists from various parts of India including Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Delhi. The displayed pieces included photomontages, urban, rural and Himalayan landscapes, stylistic paintings, abstract mindscapes, works featuring religious motifs and the elements of the folk painting and sculpture of Jharkhand (Khobar).
The visitors of the exhibition were particularly attracted by the bamboo carvings by Kartar Singh Sonkhle, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh who exhibited his multiple models of traditional Himachali temples including the famous ones like Bhimakali, Hadimba, Mamaleshwar, Rarashar and the famous Christchurch in Shimla; the model of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the raw material sculptures like the figures of cranes and pigeons fashioned out of pine cones; and the fascinating models of Pahari houses fitted in bottles.
